Tree Of Life Yoga Center 

Tree of Life Yoga Center is a small business (currently virtual) dedicated to the larger vision of holistic living. Tree of Life shares the wisdom found in yoga through offering classes, workshops and individual sessions in the Michiana area.

Believing that there is a divine spark in each aspect of creation, through going within, we can contact this inner wisdom to assist in our own self-development and healing.  Living mindfully allows us to make conscious choices about our beliefs and lifestyles so that we may participate in the creation of a compassionate world and sustainable society.

Tree of Life Yoga Center was founded by Teji (Ruth) Dilley in 1998. Prior to closing its physical doors at the end of 2018, the beloved studio space held many wonderful classes, workshops, and teacher trainings. Yet, as a tree grows and branches out, so has Tree of Life expanded beyond its studio doors. During this time of COVID Teji, Barb and Kristen are teaching classes virtually, continuing the Center’s original mission of sharing the gifts of yoga with the community and beyond.  Yoga Classes

All Tree of Life Yoga teachers have advanced teacher certifications and are registered with the Yoga Alliance.

Students are treated with care, compassion, and are given individual attention in their practice of yoga.

Yoga at Tree Of Life is viewed in the classical sense as a holistic practice, a science of self-study.  Tree Of Life teaches a blend of Hatha Yoga (asana and pranayama –yoga poses and breathing techniques) based in the Kripalu Yoga tradition (compassionate approach towards yoga and living) and alignment based yoga practices to gain the therapeutic results of the poses.

The benefits of a regular yoga practice are numerous and cumulative. The practice of yoga poses lengthens, tones and brings flexibility to the muscles. Many people find relief from chronic pain as the alignment of the body improves due to the body awareness and strength that develops from the proper practice of hatha yoga.

The circulation of blood and lymph throughout the body is improved which nourishes the muscles, organs, and glands while cleansing waste products from the body. Deep breathing and the practice of yoga poses promotes a state of relaxation which soothes the nervous system, thereby reducing stress which improves the strength of the immune system.

A sense of mental clarity and wholeness is created as awareness is focused on the breath and the body. As layers of tension and mind chatter drop away it is possible to find peace within, “center,” and contact your true and higher self. These practices serve to bring physical health, a sense of peace, and alignment with your higher purpose in life.

 

Private Yoga

Individuals and small groups may schedule private yoga sessions. A private yoga session allows for personalized instruction in the poses and can be used to design a personal home practice, a CD can be made of your session. Small groups may schedule a special class or even a full series of classes. Please call for more information.

 

Guidelines and Policies

  • Wear comfortable, non-binding clothing and layer to adjust for changing body temperature.
  • Eat lightly at least 1-2 hours before class. You don’t want to exercise with a full stomach.
  • Listen to and follow instructions carefully, ask if you are unsure how to perform a certain movement.
  • Breathe smoothly and continuously as you practice yoga poses, do not hold your breath or strain to attain any position.
  • Women’s considerations: menstruating women may not want to practice inverted (upside down) postures, pregnant women must consult with their health care provider.
  • All exercise programs involve a risk of injury, by choosing to participate in classes you voluntarily assume a certain risk of injury. If you follow these guidelines you will reduce your risk of injury.

Tree of Life requires that all students inform their instructor of any preexisting health conditions and/or concerns about practicing yoga.  By agreeing to participate in classes you consent to waive liability toward the instructor.

Due to the nature of this small operation, Tree of Life cannot guarantee the availability of make-up classes or refunds.
